Pro/Con Databases:
- Issues & Controversies - This database will give you a great OVERVIEW of your topic, complete with statistics. This resource is a great first stop in fully understanding your research topic and gives arguments on all issues involved.
- Gale Opposing Viewpoints in Context - Another wonderful resource in which you will find magazine, journal, and news articles as well as viewpoint essays from books.
- Points of View Reference Center (Infohio) -Points of View Reference Center contains more than 370 topics, each with an overview (objective background / description), point (argument), and counterpoint (opposing argument).
General Research Databases:
- *Student Resources in Context - This is one of the best online resources to use in order to find magazines, journals, book sections, news articles and much more. This is the database to start with if you have already looked at all of the pro/con databases.
- EBSCOHost Multi-Database Search: EBSCOhost will give you magazine, journal, and news articles as well as reference information. It is a bit harder to use because it is so extensive. Recommend using ALL DATABASE SEARCH - scroll down to MAS-Ultra School Edition which narrows your search from over 5000 journals and magazines to just around 500, making it a bit easier to narrow your focus.
- Gale Virtual Reference Library - Use the search box to search through our extensive library of reference eBooks, with no need to check anything out! Our reference eBook collection functions just like a database and allows you to save articles directly to your Google drive.
- eBooks from the Washington Centerville Public Library: The public library also has a large collection of reference eBooks. Try searching in their collection as well. To log in enter your own name and library card number or use the Centerville student account: username: centerville, password: centervilleelks
- INFOhio Explora, grades 9-12: Read magazines, newspapers, biographies, primary sources, country information and more about your topic.
- World Book Advanced: Online encyclopedia from INFOhio - Contains research tools, primary sources, e-books, biographies, sounds, videos, current events, images, maps, and timelines.
